2009 was over a decade ago, and Modern Warfare 2’s visuals haven’t aged all too well, arguably. We don’t really let aged graphics get in the way of a fantastic single-player experience, but playing through the campaign again with the newest visuals modern technology allows means the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia can stay on all the way.
Keep in mind that this remaster only applies to the game’s story mode. Unfortunately, Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode won’t get a re-release with a new coat of paint - Activision likely doesn’t want to have their own game compete with Modern Warfare’s own multiplayer mode. The best thing about this is that the remaster is already available - if you’re playing on PlayStation 4, that is. Xbox One and PC players will have to sit tight and wait for the 30th of April when it is released on those platforms - you can already pre-order it, though.
Doing so will net you a few bonuses in Warzone as well. The UDT Classic Ghost Bundle is automatically unlocked for everyone buying the remaster now, and includes a UDT Ghost operator skin, the Task Force and One For One weapon blueprints, the Flippers weapon charm, the Belly Flop finishing move, the Star Frosty voice clip, the No Easy Days set of player cards and the Ghost Emblem. Since Simon “Ghost” Riley is one of the most iconic and beloved character in the entire Call of Duty franchise, this is one hell of a pre-order incentive. We wonder how many people will be running around Verdansk with Ghost operator skins in the coming months.
