The past 12 months have been filled with various reports of a Gears of War bundle with remastered versions being in the works. But since there has been no official announcement from Xbox and nothing came to fruition, fans were discouraged. But the co-host of the XboxEra podcast and the author behind the original report, Nick Baker, took to Twitter to double down on his claims.
— Nick (@Shpeshal_Nick) January 11, 2023 This is the latest development we’ve heard about the possible remaster of the original Gears of War trilogy. In September 2022, Microsoft filed a gaming-related Gears of War trademark, which led fans to believe that either Gears 6 is on the way or this bundle is nearing completion. Whatever comes out of it, Xbox users will be happy, especially when you consider the drought of premium exclusive games they experienced last year. The insider previously mentioned that the rumored Gears of War remasters will be packed in a bundle similar to the Halo: The Master Chief Collection project. It appears that both developers under the Xbox Game Studio are on a similar trajectory since Halo Infinite, the latest installment in the Halo franchise, was released two years after the Collection remaster went public. A Gears of War bundle containing the original trilogy and other expansions should serve as a proper appetizer for fans until Gears 6 is ready for publishing. The original Gears of War was released more than 16 years ago and even the third installment of the franchise is nearing its twelfth birthday. And as impactful as they were spearheading the Xbox 360 generation, they definitely seem a bit visually outdated when compared to the titles on the Xbox Series. Apart from Netflix’s Gear of War adaptation which could feature Dave Bautista, Xbox users still have a lot to look forward to. Forza Motorsports could be coming soon and a recent rumor suggests that a remake of GoldenEye 007 could end up on Xbox Game Pass in as little as two weeks.
