The main highlight of the Modern Warfare 2 release date reveal is the realistic-looking drone footage of massive shipping containers painted with the familiar faces of the fan-favorite Task Force 141. Infinity Ward then confirmed in a later tweet that fan-favorites Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley, Captain John Price, Sergeant Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish, and Colonel Alejandro Vargas, are all going to be in Modern Warfare 2. What’s also interesting about the teaser trailer is that it appears to tease something on June 8. Specifically, “J-8-22” can be understood as June 8, 2022, which is a day before the return of Summer Game Fest. Since most will be keeping an eye out on Geoff Keighley’s showcase on June 9, you might as well circle June 8 on your calendars.
— Call of Duty (@CallofDuty) May 24, 2022 It’s not clear yet if the industrial dock featured in the trailer is the main, or even partial, setting of Modern Warfare 2. It’d be a damn shame if Activision didn’t use the photorealistic asset outside of a reveal. “Impressed” is definitely the right word to describe the audience’s reactions to the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 trailer. Hopefully, the June 8 tease is real and we’ll see more of Modern Warfare 2 by then. If not, October 28 isn’t that far away anyway. In the meantime, Call of Duty fans can look forward to the mid-season update to Vanguard and Warzone on May 24 and May 25, respectively.
