Showrunners, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, announced the future of Stranger Things on Twitter earlier today as the duo confirmed that Netflix had renewed the show for a fifth season. Also, the Duffer brothers finally gave Stranger Things season 4 a proper release date following a release window reveal last year. Much like several other Netflix shows that had to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, Netflix split Stranger Things’ fourth season into two parts. Volume 1 will premiere on May 27 while Volume 2 will launch on July 1. While it is unfortunate to see Stranger Things coming to an end, the two did tease that spin-offs could be on the docket. Specifically, their letter reads, “there are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes.”

After making its debut in 2016, the series has become one of the streaming platform’s biggest hits. Although it never reached the peak of Squid Game, Netflix confirmed last year just how big every season of Stranger Things was. Now that it’s coming to an end, fans will have every reason to tune in to the show even more seeing that the creators already have an endgame planned. Just how exactly Stranger Things will end is something that fans will have to wait for at least one more year to see. In other news, another one of Netflix’s most popular shows, Better Call Saul, just got a release date for its sixth and final season. Similar to Stranger Things, Better Call Saul’s last run will be split into two parts. Meanwhile, Take-Two Interactive and Netflix just announced that they’ve partnered on a live-action BioShock movie. Finally, Netflix will lose all its Marvel shows at the end of this month, with The Punisher reportedly headed to Hulu next.
