Unfortunately, Infinity Ward hasn’t quite worked out those massive download sizes just yet, as fans have been asking them to do for months now. The new operators, subway system and everything else Season 6 is bringing to the hugely popular battle royale game are all packaged into a download just a lick under 20.5 GB. The pre-load option is only available on PS4, and even there you need to manually check for updates unless automatic downloads - a PS Plus-only feature - is turned on. Installation, however, can only take place after the season launches. Large download and install sizes have been plaguing Modern Warfare and Warzone practically since launch. With recent updates, the developers have begun swapping out assets with compressed versions to push down storage needs, but things are still squarely on the extreme side of things. On console, players have the chance to modularly download or delete “data packets”, but this option is barely treating the symptoms, and PC players are denied even this crutch.
Season 6 is bringing two new operators to the fight - Farah returns from the Modern Warfare campaign and teams up with Nikolai, a Russian patriot and PMC leader bringing the fight to Verdansk. In the new season’s cinematic trailer, the duo reactivate the Verdansk Metro, introducing the new subway system to the battle royale map. We’ve collected all the information known about the subway in this guide, so study it well before the new content becomes available! Xbox One and PC players will have to wait with downloading the update until tomorrow, when Season 6 official launches.
