Ever since Cold War Zombies, the developers have taken an ‘objective’ route for the zombies’ mode, which has not been received well by zombies’ players. It has gotten so bad that even the non-zombie players agree that zombies have taken a turn for the worst. Vanguard Zombies approached the mode in a similar fashion to Outbreak and introduced a mixture of round-based experience and Outbreak objectives. The limited zombies’ experience didn’t sit well with the community and has resulted in an outcry to return to the classic round-based zombies’ map.
The wish to get a proper round-based map has been granted and is coming to Vanguard. It is none other than the remake of the original Shi No Numa. While the map is not new, it is expected to be a completely reimagined version of the original map. It will feature the main easter egg and a wonder weapon. We still have no hint as to what the wonder weapon will be - whether its the original Wunderwaffe DG-2 or something entirely new. Wunderwaffe was first featured in Shi No Numa and was later acquired on other round-based maps through Mystery Box.
Set in Japan, Shi No Numa is Japanese for “Swamp of Death.” The map was first featured in Call of Duty: World at War and also reappeared in other notable zombie titles, including Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 3. The map was also featured in Call of Duty: Mobile’s version of zombies. A reimagined version of Shi No Numa will be released for Vanguard Zombies with season 4. Treyarch Studios unveiled the map name artwork via Twitter. It follows the same ancient Dark Aether theme of Vanguard Zombies with runes and demonic symbols.
— Treyarch Studios (@Treyarch) June 14, 2022 It is still not known whether the map will release at the beginning of season 4 or in-season. However, according to a credible leaker known as Zapped on Twitter, the map will be released at the beginning of season 4. The fans wouldn’t have it any other way given they had to wait for months.
— Zapped 🇺🇦 (@Zappedddddd) June 14, 2022 In his May 20 Tweet, he also mentions that the map after is scheduled for season 5 or season 5 reloaded. This leads us to believe that Shi No Numa won’t be the only round-based map we will see in Vanguard Zombies. It is also speculated that, unlike the previous titles, Vanguard won’t have six seasons but only five. Season 4 is releasing next week, and if that is the case, then we will only have enough time for just one more round-based map. It was also tweeted in April of 2022 by another well-respected leaker in the community, TheGhostOfHope.
— Hope (@TheGhostOfHope) April 19, 2022 Vanguard fans can expect two round-based zombies during the life cycle of Vanguard Zombies. It is still too early to guess what the next map will be, but after months of waiting, the return of a fan-favorite map in the form of a round-based experience (as it should) is definitely a welcomed sight. Season 4 is set to kick off on June 22, 2022, and that is when Shi No Numa will be available for everyone to play. In addition to a new round-based map, there’s also a new Warzone resurgence map called Fortune’s Keep coming to Warzone.
