Youtuber Tyler McVicker recently revealed that he found interesting info while sleuthing around in Aperture Desk Job. Specifically, McVicker found four titles that could eventually be released, including a sequel to Half-Life: Alyx and Citadel as well as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s highly anticipated Source 2 port and a Portal game but with paint. Interestingly enough, Valve previously shot down McVicker when he claimed that the privately-owned video game company had canceled work on the follow-up to Half-Life Alyx to focus on a Steam Deck-exclusive game, Citadel. Ever since bursting into the mainstream with 1998’s Half-Life, Valve has slowly shifted its focus from making iconic video games to distributing them and now, making a console. Although rumors of a third Half-Life installment have always swirled around, the past two years have been different. Perhaps the success of 2020’s Half-Life: Alyx has gotten its creative juices flowing again. Even if we don’t take McVicker’s words into account, Valve designer Greg Coomer recently teased that the company is working on multiple games right now. Given how Valve usually moves according to its timeline, it will be a while before we hear more about the “pretty exciting” games that Coomer was talking about. In an ideal scenario, Valve will release a handful of new titles throughout the 2020s, enough to make a new Orange Box for a new generation of gamers. In other news, the usually private Valve co-founder, Gabe Newell, recently shared his thoughts about NFTs and why Valve is steering clear of them despite their growing popularity. Meanwhile, Nintendo has acted swiftly to takedown attempts to emulate the Nintendo Switch on the Steam Deck.
